After many months of waiting, the much awaited moment finally arrived. We are going to the Camino de Santiago with four of our severely disabled children and their families; but we are going to walk the Camino with our bikes! It is amazing as it sounds!

Arturo, Ignacio, Irene and Ismael will enjoy the experience with their families, volunteers and other members of the FLK team. This will be a real challenge for them and for the Foundation given their conditions: some need to be tube fed, others need oxygen assistance and all have a dependence of over 75%. However, everyone has a shared ambition to achieve this huge challenge on the adapted bikes. This adventure began to take shape a long time ago as a result of Ignacio’s magnificent experience on the Camino, as he undertook the challenged in stages, organized by BBVA AM Solidarios Non Stop in 2017.

Now we are ambitious enough to undertake this fun adventure with these four brave youngsters.  We will not do it alone. We will be accompanied by two experts in the field, Arma Kleinepier (expert in cycling routes) and Javier Pitillas, responsible for DisCamino,, who has helped make the Camino de Santiago open and available to more than 200 people with disabilities.

Ismael, Arturo and Irene will arrive in Galicia from the Casa-Hogar in San Juan de Alicante, while Ignacio will do it from Madrid. All of them will be accompanied by caregivers and relatives. Once there, they will begin their adventure with the first stage from Vigo to Pontevedra (28 Kms by bicycle), the second from Pontevedra to Valga (34 Kms. By bicycle) and a third from Valga to Santiago de Compostela (also 34 Kms).

We expect an emotional arrival at Plaza del Obradoiro and therefore we invite you to share that moment with us, Would you like to join us to welcome our champions on wheels?
