Working with the children who come to the Foundation and their families provides me with both a professional and personal growth. These young men and women teach us to fight every day and we have the privilege of being able to accompany them. When they make progress, we all gain.
As a speech therapist, my job is to ensure that they have fun, while simultaneously promoting the development of language and communication, as well as providing them with the opportunity to learn new and different ways of interacting with their environment, because speech therapy is much more than talking.
For me, the best thing about this Temporary Stays project that I am part of is that every weekend a different person has the opportunity to take advantage of this wonderful resource, all able to participate in leisure activities promoting inclusion. It is enriching to meet and share the experience with the families of these young people, from which we receive enormous gratitude for seeing their children so happy.
